FINAL CONQUEST
One of the few older horses at NDM, Conrad seems to be struggling with getting out of his second place finishes. With 22 total in his career so far, we are looking to find that extra edge to help him get up into grade one status. He is most likely going to need a fifth year in racing, he is not a HOTY competitor and seems to need a lot of experience on the tracks to get his wins in. He has some rare blood, and being a dual runner we hope he can continue his running for another season to round out his career.
IMPRESS THE MOONLIGHT
Our three year old star of last year has fallen into quite a slump this year. Only just having gotten her third win this season, we are a little flummoxed over how she could dive so hard from her brilliant season last year. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, if she continues to struggle we will mostly likely retire her, we do not want to see her drop down any further, she is much too classy and experienced to drag along.
SIMBA
We continue to very much enjoy Simba, he has been and will continue to be a very challenging and unique experience for us. We feel he has been doing very well this year, if he continues to remain consistent we will probably try him in some HOTY races next season. As our only older sprinter, he is one of our top competitors this year.
CROOKED INTENTIONS
Tia continues to truck along, we have downgraded her out of HOTY races as she isn’t able to compete there this year. We may change our minds or try one again, but having just gotten to grade three we are concerned her competition will outdo her. It takes her some time to work her way through a grade, and she was unfortunately not able to be a strong runner for the triple tiara this year. We are hoping with age she will be able to round into more of an established racing style.
SUGAR DEMON
Our classic sprinter, Sugar Demon is currently in the turf sprinter triple tiara series, taking third in the So Sassy Sprint. She’s definitely a fighter, we have her in stronger HOTY company this season, and are building a classier career for her. We will continue to try her in the upper levels of racing so long as she can keep her hooves there happily. As long as she can hold her own the remaining months and depending on her results in the TSTT we may try her at Breeder’s.
TIGER HEART
We are getting his feet wet in HOTY races, and have given him a turf surface to work on now as a dual runner. We tried him in the CTC, he placed fourth in the Queen’s Plate and third in the Prince of Wales, being his debut in difficult HOTY we hope this gave him experience as he goes into a smattering of other higher level racing. We will see how he does on turf, his pedigree Prize Me Proud x Train Wreck has solid grass ability. Our highest graded three year old we are hoping that he can carry up into a strong four year old season.
ETERNALLY SMOLDERING
There isn’t too much to say about this boy, his last win was in June, we are keeping him in his planned races and if he can keep up a solid enough record we will most likely enter him later this year in Breeders.
ITALIAN BEAUTY
Having broken her maiden she is heading into some difficult racing being so inexperienced up against horses having run all season. We are focusing on getting her experience and track time in smaller fields where we can to build up her confidence and abilities.
JUSTA LITTLE CUTIE
Having finally gotten her second win just this week after a dry spell since breaking her maiden in January, she has been struggling most of the year to keep up with her competition. We dropped her out of HOTY as she began to find it too difficult, and hope that with undercards she can build herself for a three year old with more success.
LIBERATED TREASURE
Brand new to NDM, this little brat is getting a very late start to racing, so we’re not holding up too much expectation for her. We are looking to, like Italian Beauty, give her some experience and work for a more solid, full three year old year. She is edging us into the sprinter races, which is an area we are very much lacking.
NUTCRACKER SUITE
She has found her second win, and much like Cutie we are undercarding her trying to find her place.
PHOENIX INFERNO
Well we got some more thirds! Phoenix, Phoenix. Hasn’t won since January week one, but he sure has been trying. We are trying him on turf, but so far haven’t had a great deal of luck. Isabelle prefers to close her eyes and cross her fingers on his workouts these days.
ROAD HOG
Just purchased, Road Hog will help fill in our sprinter gaps. We are getting used to him now, and will be able to judge more how he works on the tracks with more time with him.
STLISHLY WILD
Just reclaimed back, NDM is super excited to have this boy back with us, and he got second in his first race out. Like our other late starters, we’re just looking to get him a foundation to help spring him forward into a full season next year.
